Heads Up with the King of Ding

Kinf of Ding Who doesn't know by now the famous online player King of Ding? But who knows he has made over hundreds of thousands euro by clicking the mouse? Mister King is certainly the second biggest internet poker winner to this day, that is, if you count recent and incredible achievement made by Chris Moneymaker, with his initial online investment to get his seat into the WSOP. You know the rest!

Still, I was sceptic and curious about Ding's success in internet poker. How did he do that? How this young kid (only 20 years old!) managed to transform his bankroll from nothing into overseas bank accounts? Well, it cost me $100 to know. Consider this as my share in Ding's fortune.

It all started about 2 and a half years ago when Ding invested $50 in an online poker site. He lost his first stake, but decided to give it a second shot. Believe me, this was the best second chance he ever gave himself! He started playing real small and after a while, he got someone to sponsor him in $3/$6 heads up games. This was the turning point he says, the start of his internet poker career. It didn't take long before he started to play for himself, almost exclusively in heads up or shorthanded format. His wealth didn't stop to grow from that moment on, and it looks like it's growing exponentially with time!

Indeed, cashing out almost one quarter of his complete winnings during the past few weeks only, the Ding simply can't believe how rich he his getting! Investors, lawyers, and the list of VIP people he had people working for him goes on, before he was old enough to look for a job! Well, that is, if you consider playing internet poker with Doyle Brunson, Chip Rease, Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer and other pros as just a hobby! Surely it is not, as the too famous King of Ding literately had to change his pseudo name for a new - now secret - identity, in order to have players sitting with him on internet tables!

The irony of the kid's situation is he still won't be old enough to enter the World Series of Poker by next year! However, he plans on celebrating his 21st birthday party in Las Vegas, next June. In the meantime, he might be looking for a new home, possibly London or Monaco - depending on the tax situation!

Now, seriously speaking, is there a system or some way to play in order to win consistently like that? Yes, for sure, but it's his own system, which consist mostly in being smart! Yep, that's the magic recipe, being wild and smart at the same time, adjust properly to players, and excel at hand reading and value betting. You can't be scared he says! As good as it gets, as easy as that, who said you needed to read books to understand those simple principles?

The kid got me into a heads up match on the internet, a no limit hold'em, $100 buy-in. Get it? That's how much it cost me to get the interview, although I felt I had a pretty good chance to beat him, since he said he was not so good in no limit poker. I tried two big bluffs - just to test his hand reading skills - and believe it or not he called me twice, with an Ace high! No wonder he had to change names in order to get customers!
